Gaocheng Capital becomes a signatory to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UN PRI), and commits to complying with ESG investment standards2020.01.03
In January 2020, Gaocheng Capital (Gaocheng) has become a signatory to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UN PRI). Gaocheng is one of the first batch of China's private equity funds to sign the principle and commit to following six principles of responsible investment.
Initiated by the United Nations in 2006, UN PRI helps investors understand the impact of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors on investment value, encourages signatories to adopt the six responsible investment principles, and supports investors to incorporate ESG factors in investment decisions and active ownership. UN PRI helps resolve obstacles in market and regulation system that may affect the financial sustainability and promotes the sustainable development of global financial system. As of the end of 2019, more than 2,700 signatories from over 70 countries have signed up to UN PRI, including asset owners, investment managers, and services providers representing approximately US$90 trillion AUM (assets under management).
As one of the investment managers signed up to UN PRI, Gaocheng is committed to maximizing long-term benefits for investors, while fully considering the impact of ESG factors on portfolio performance. In line with the premise of fiduciary duty, we make following commitments:
1. We will incorporate Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues into investment analysis and decision-making processes.
2. We will be active owners and incorporate ESG issues into our ownership policies and practices.
3. We will seek appropriate disclosure on ESG issues by the entities in which we invest.
4. We will promote acceptance and implementation of the Principles within the investment industry.
5. We will work together to enhance our effectiveness in implementing the Principles.
6. We will each report on our activities and progress towards implementing the Principles.
As a private equity fund that focuses on growth-stage investment opportunities in technology innovation and enterprise service sectors, Gaocheng continues to sustain attention to the development of China's responsible investment, upholds the investment philosophy of creating long-term value, and applies the ESG concept to the investment decision-making process. We are dedicated to empowering enterprises, generating long-term sustainable returns for investors, and creating long-term value for society and the environment.
We hope to become a leading responsible investment practitioner in China's private equity industry, and actively engage in communication and cooperation with market participants to form a synergy between enterprises, investors, investment institutions and other capital market participants, so as to promote the sustainable development of China's financial market and contribute to the achievement of China's strategic objective of long-term sustainable development.
